Powder

It seems that every brand just came out with some sort of new face finishing/setting powder. Has anyone tried any of these? They look so beautiful, but many of them are very expensive. The NARS and Hourglass powders have both been super raved about lately.

Chanel face powder / Hourglass Cosmetics hourglass cosmetic / NARS Cosmetics / Laura Mercier , $37 / Bobbi Brown Cosmetics , $33

Are these worth a splurge in your book?

Argan Oil

Alright, most of you know the latest and the greatest trend in skin and hair care is the Josie Maran Argan Oil at Sephora.

Here's the problem: This 1.7oz bottle is a whopping $48.00. It's 100% Pure Argan Oil, nothing else special added to it.
I set out on a mission to find the exact same thing at Whole Foods for a fraction of the cost.
*drumroll*

So, I did find the exact same thing. Aura Cacia Argan Skin Oil for 1oz at Whole Foods for $14.99. It's even cheaper on Amazon for $9.50

A much more affordable way to try this new craze. 100% Pure Argan Oil, just not under the Josie Maran name. (and it's worth it, my skin and hair have thanked me!)

The lady at Whole Foods who helped me find this told me that a lot of people have been asking for it, probably because of all of the much deserved hype! She also uses it in her hair.

For anyone who is wondering, I use it on my face after I wash it, but before I put on any other cream. On my hair, I use it right before I blow it dry. My mother has been using it as well, and she loves it as much as I do!

Have you tried Argan Oil? Will you try it? Let us know if you love it like we do!

Brow-lelulliah

Eyebrows. We've posted about them before. We still love them. Here are some fabulous eye brow products--all under $9!

1. Brow Brush/Comb. This can be purchased at Sephora for like $6. It helps tame those brows and is good for tweezing assistance.
2. Maybelline MasterBrow. It's the weirdest, best thing. It's like a waxy pencil for your brows. You fill them in, but the wax also helps it to set. If I don't need flawless makeup for a whole day, I just use this. It works like a dream, and it can be found at any drugstor/Target. A warning: sharpening this thing is annoying, but for $7, I'll take it.
 3. Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara. Works as a setting gel if you've filled in your brows, or if you don't want to fill them and just want to set them. A great price at $4.
4. Tweezers. Any pair will do, you can find them at all prices. This isn't something for every day, but we all need them!

Skin Saviors

This cold winter weather has definitely been a "reality check" for our skin. Here are a few things that have helped us this winter thus far!

1. Burt's Bees Cuticle Cream: Totally saves my dry and cracked cuticles. A great buy at $5.99, and smells great too!
2. Nivea Essentially Enriched Lotion: We love this stuff. It moisturizes our skin. It's the only thing that helps me, and it's readily accessible at Target. Worth a shot!
3. Fresh Sugar Lip Scrub: I have a confession: my lips take a huge toll in the winter. This scrub is awesome. It was $22.50 at Sephora, so it's not cheap. But, this should last me for at least a year. I use it 2-3 times a week, and my lips no longer suffer.
4. Philosophy Purity Made Simple Face Wash: Two words: Holy. Grail.
5. True Blue Shea Cashmere Hand Creme: Awesome stuff. Smells great! It would be a perfect little gift for yourself or a friend.
6. Fresh Sugar Advanced Lip Therapy: Another thing that is a splurge at $25. I got a mini in a kit. And it's a totally holy grail. I use it twice a day and it's amazing. I did break down and buy the full size. I know it makes a huge difference because my DAD noticed my lips looked a lot better. (it's worth it if you struggle with lips!)

Exfoliate!

It's finally cooling off-the air is getting drier and drier as the days pass. It's so important to exfoliate your skin at this point of the season! Here is my favorite basically FREE exfoliator!

Drum roll...SUGAR!

A family friend has the best skin ever and she's been doing this since she was a teenager, so my mom and I decided to give it a try, and we are addicted. It's free and easy, it's pretty natural and has no fragrance.
But, we do not recommend the use of this on your face.
Try it out and let us know! I use it once-twice a week!

Tumblr Request: C's Skin Routine

So, I received a request on tumblr to post my skin routine. I have very dry skin (Sahara desert dry.) Somehow, I still manage to keep a clear face. My routine is super simple, but super effective for me.

Cetaphil. Cetaphil is my holy grail. It works so fantastically. It's highly effective at cleaning your face and even removing makeup! Here's the unpopular thing I do: wash my face only at night. I find that washing my face in the morning dries out my skin more than it already is.

Neutrogena SPF 15 Moisturizer. I apply this twice a day and I have been using this for about a year, and I think it works just as well as the $30 Boscia one I used before.

Neutrogena Eye Make Up Remover. I use this after I use Cetaphil but before I moisturize. I rinse off after, but I think Cetaphil does such a good job at removing my eye makeup!

St. Ives Apricot Scrub. I use this once or twice a week. I find that any more than that is too drying for my skin, but it's important to exfoliate!

Clean&Clear Persa Gel 10. This stuff will cure a little zit in a day. I only use this if I am desperate because it's so drying to your skin, but it works miracles!

Do we use any of the same products? Do you have a suggestion for me? Let me know!
Love,
C

Makeup Haul

It's C here! I just wanted to share some of the makeup I've purchased in the last month or so! (no, I didn't buy all of this at once!) A will be sharing some of hers too in the near future!

Bobbi Brown Shimmerbrick: a tried and true favorite. I ran out of my old one! I use this constantly, and have been since 8th grade!

Benefit They're Real Mascara: So in love with this-I had to replace it after mine got mixed up and lost, but it's a great formula and makes your lashes huge!
Urban Decay Primer Potion: I don't know how I didn't prime my eyes before this summer-they make a huge huge difference. Your eyeshadows last longer and don't crease. I might purchase this in another color so I could wear it alone on lazy days!

Sephora 500 Point Award-I knew I had to snatch this up!
Benefit The Porefessional Primer: Pretty good sample size, I have not tried it yet, but will definitely see how I like it and have heard great things!
Mini Benefit They're Real Mascara: Yay! This one is already in my purse!

Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer: I already love this stuff so much and it hasn't even been a week. It's perfect for medium/fair complexions and it smells great! I can totally tell it's a brown based bronzer, and not orange like so many others are!
NARS Lipgloss in Orgasm: I totally have contemplated buying this color for a long time, but the $24 price tag held me back. I am so glad I bought it! I love love love the color and the shimmer makes it a great basic gloss, and it's also my favorite blush. However, I don't really love the taste/smell of it compared to SmashBox and Revlon.
Benefit Speed Brow Eye Brow Gel: This is an odd little product. It's basically to keep your brows groomed and under control. I love it! I love that full brows are in for fall, so I didn't want to wax mine but I knew I needed a little extra help to keep mine from looking unruly! It's super easy and has made a huge difference for me.

Have you bought any new makeup recently? Let us know!

Love,
C
