Random Purchases

Hey everyone! I just thought I would show you two things I purchased today:

Anyone who follows me on tumblr knows that I really want to try these. The set was $34 for 5. So basically each one is under $7.00, and they retail for $24 a piece, and they are full sized. I had to try these out.

This was such an amazing deal. It's still $55 online, but I managed to pick this up for $24.99 at my store today!! I love J.Crew Popovers, and I don't have any fall tops this color. I couldn't pass this deal up!

Have you gotten anything lately? Let us know!

DIY: Pumpkin Spice Latte

Guilty pleasure: the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Most of us love this classic fall drink, but not the price or the time! Here is a DIY recipe from The Daily Buzz

2 cups milk
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin OR 1 teaspoon of  Pumpkin Spice Syrup (your choice)
2 tablespoons sugar or sugar substitute -
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1-2 shots espresso (about 1/4 cup of espresso or 1/2 cup of strong brewed coffee if you don’t have an espresso machine.)
Combine milk, pumpkin, and sugar in a saucepan and stir over medium heat until steaming. Remove the saucepan and stir in vanilla and spice, pour into a blender, and process for 15 minutes (or until foamy). No blender? No problem! Just whisk instead. Pour the mixture into a cup and put the espresso on top! Done!

Sound Good? Will you try this??

REDdy or Not

We love red. We are not all daring enough to wear red, but it's worth a shot this fall. Red is everything in the fall, from candy apples to the leaves falling. Here our some of our picks for great reds!

Keyhole dress / J.Crew checkered shirt / Toggle coat / rag & bone low rise skinny jeans / Long skirt / Tory Burch flat shoes / Marc by Marc Jacobs marc jacob / Kate Spade teardrop earrings / Kate Spade bow belt / Kate Spade / Tulle Clothing / MAC Cosmetics lip gloss

1) The Red Buffalo Button Down-J.Crew. I love this top-it's cute to wear with jeans and a puffer vest. It's pretty versatile and can be layered nicely.
2) Red Coat-Tulle. So fun, and pretty reasonably priced for a coat. This line is pretty high quality-I have some of it and love it!
3) Red Cords-Rag and Bone. A little more daring, but still fun!
4) High Low Skirt-Topshop. I love the high low look, but I can't pull it off, as much as I wish I could!
5) Key Hole Dress-Modcloth. Who doesn't love an LRD?!
6) Red Lipgloss-MAC. For those of us who aren't ready to commit!
7) Red Earrings-Kate Spade. These aren't cheap, but I am already imagining all of the ways I could wear these fun earrings!
8) Bow Belt-Kate Spade. Again, a little pricy, but still so fun and versatile!
9) Scarf-Tulle. A little red scarf is a great pop of color!
10) Handbag-Marc by Marc Jacobs. Marc makes a great bag. This is pricy, but this is as versatile as a black bag!
11) Flats-Tory Burch. A great little pop of red in your shoes turns a boring jeans and button down look into something special!
12) iPhone Case-Kate Spade. Just something fun and whimsical!

I'm lusting over that red gloss and the J.Crew shirt!
Do you rock red? What are your favorite pieces? Let us know!

Review: Benefit and Too Faced

I received tumblr requests to post reviews on these two products:

Benefit the POREfessional:

I received this product as a "free" 500 point perk along with a mini They're Real Mascara. It happened to be a fully sized product! I really do like it. It's only .75oz for $30, so it is pretty expensive for what you get. It makes my skin feel so smooth and velvety-so I love that. I am not an expert in the primer field, quite honestly. This is the first one I have had. If it lasts long enough for the price, I would repurchase it because I think it helps my makeup last longer. You don't need a lot of product either.

Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

HOLY GRAIL. I love this product so much. It is matte and perfect for those of us with lighter complexions. As pretty as the normal Chocolate Soleil Bronzer is, I think it would make me look muddy, so this is a great alternative. I love that is totally, completely matte. Sometimes I feel like bronzer with a lot of shimmer can make me look "shiny." It's perfect. It applies easily and smells like chocolate (for real.) I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Do you use any of these? Let me know!

Steal or Real Deal?

Which do you like better? Can  you tell the difference between the two?

Yes, yes, yes...Most of you reading this will probably immediately recognize that magically mystical H belt from Hermès. And that Hermès orange! Couldn't miss it for the life of you. But what about that second belt? Tortoise shell enamel? How cute?! And the leather is also Hermès orange. But there's a C instead of an H...interesting. Don't worry, the second belt also has an H letter buckle option.

Guess what the biggest difference between the two belts is...
THE PRICE.

Hermès- $780ish
C Wonder- $48 (leather belt) + $38 (tortoise letter belt buckle)/ $28 (gold plated letter belt buckle)

We're headed to the C Wonder store as you read this, don't worry.

Which one would you buy?

Autumn Calls for Apple Crisp

Hooray- it's officially fall as of Saturday! Who's ready to go apple picking? Here's a fall inspired food recipe for some lovely apple crisp.

1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
1 cup of brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

2. Layer sliced apples in a 9 x 12 inch baking pan.
3. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and oatmeal in a bowl. Cut in the butter. Sprinkle sugar mixture over the apples.
4. Bake for 45 minutes or until topping looks crunchy and apples are tender.

Steal or Real Deal?

There have been many posts on this topic, I know. But: this is from a personal point of view.

The Bubble Necklace
Real Deal:
J.Crew $150

The Steal:
Ebay or Etsy
between $10-25

I chose the steal. I ordered one off of eBay from a US seller and it was fairly inexpensive. I can't justify spending $150 on costume jewelry. The one from eBay might not hold up as well, but you could buy like 7 from the price of one J.Crew piece.

Have you joined in on this trend? Do you have a real or a fake?

College Visit Outfits

This is a field we are both pros at!! College visits have become much more "casual" for people. It's not uncommon to see people sporting sweats, yoga pants, or leggings. (we know you would never do that!) Here are some non-blue denim looks we love!

Look 1: Navy pants, sweater, and scarf. I think it's some important to add a fun twist to an outfit! This polka dot scarf does the trick.
Look 2: Red denim and camel sweater. This is a super cute and fun look. It's put together, but not boring.
Look 3: A fun twist on the classic blazer and button down look! Throw on those fabulous cobalt jeans to change it up.

Tips:
-Comfortable shoes. No heels. You will be miserable.
-We don't like wearing blue denim, but it is acceptable as long as you're wearing something nice on top.
-No obvious labels. This is not the time to sport your Reva flats or Louis Vuitton purse. Of course, classic jewelry is fine, but you wouldn't want to come off as snooty or materialistic.
-You want a cardigan or jacket. trust us.
-Dresses and skirts can be difficult. You might be sitting down in an awkward place or a bench, so pants are the safest bet.

Job Interview Chic

Here are some looks we love! We received a tumblr request to post some looks!
Look 1: Blouse and black slacks. Fairly basic. Put together but not boring!
Look 2: Skirt and button up. The skirt print adds some interest. Throw on some nude pumps!
Look 3: Blouse, khakis, and blazer. Put together and chic.

In General:
-Don't wear shoes that hurt. You could get a tour and walk around a ton!
-Closed toed shoes are a must.
-In general, don't expose too much leg or chest. Have sleeves.
-Don't be afraid to be yourself-but still look professional!
-A pop of color or texture is great.
-Make sure your outfit is comfortable, well fitted, hemmed etc.

Good luck!

Fashion Emergency

Something really horribly embarrassing happened to me last weekend. I. ripped. my. jeans. in. public. Yes, I did. I bent over the wrong way and my jeans ripped. rich at the seam. I was so incredibly UNprepared. I found this little kit that I will be picking up to keep in my purse.

It includes: fashion tape, deodorant removing sponge, lint sheets, sewing kit, stain stick, instant button, hair band, earring back, and nail file.
It's basically a steal!
For $14.99, you can't even make one yourself for that price!

One Piece, Three Ways: Plum Jeans

Ah, we're so glad that the colored denim trend is still big for fall. We love the color plum, and here is how we would wear our plum jeans!

Look 1: Classic black peplum top and plum jeans. Throw in leopard flats for an unexpected twist. Great for typical weekend days or some work environments.
Look 2: Unexpected kelly green cardigan and the classic cognac riding boot. Comfortable for class, and running errands!
Look 2: This one is a stunner. The basic creme top has an unexpected polka dot print. Throw in some nude pumps and you're ready for a night out!

How would you rock these jeans?

Something we've been forgetting to do in the hustle and bustle of school. Here is a little reminder a la Colbie Caillat.

MYMM: Blogging

We had a tumblr request from the fabulous Emily to write a post on Blogging Etiquette/Ethics. Here are our tips!
1. Don't copycat names and posts. End of story.
2. Don't comment obsessively and expect comments back. Bloggers don't all have time to do that!
4. If you participate in blog features, link back to the creator. (Hey It's Ok Thursday etc.) I see that a lot and it makes me feel bad.
5. Don't claim series/graphics as your own. If you mess up with that, add in appropriate links when you use photos.
6. Remember: Everyone sees Blogger. That is more likely to show up in a google search than a tumblr page. Make sure you represent yourself in an appropriate matter, on blogger. Tumblr is a little bit more free, especially if you make yourself anonymous, as both of us have chosen to do.

What did we leave out? Let us know!

To Take To Test

It's test morning...don't forget anything with this guide!

1. Cardigan/Jacket. If you're not wearing one, you want to bring one. You never know the room temperature. Also cardigans and jackets are easier on and off than sweatshirts, so we recommend one of the two!
2. Luna/Nutrition Bar. Our tutors both advised us to eat one at the break, and we think they keep you more full and focused.
3. Graphing Calculator.
4. Pink Pearl Erasers and Ticonderoga Pencils. (if you're neurotic like we are!)
5. ID and Admission Ticket!!!
6. Water Bottle

Did we forget anything? Let us know!

Testing 1,2,3

The SAT, ACT, PSAT. The worst three/four letter combos that exist. The ACT for juniors and seniors is this Saturday. We're both ACT pros. We've each taken it like 4 times. Here are our tips for test day morning.

1. Get enough sleep the night before, but not too much. It's essential you have your normal full amount of sleep that you work best on. But don't make that mistake of going to bed so early that you wake up and are bounding with energy. Also, the earlier you go to bed (than normally for you) the better chance you have of waking up and stressing out at ungodly hours.
2. Don't study the night before. Honestly, you just want to have a clear mind as possible, and trying to remember the distance formulas that Friday night won't help.
3. Relax. The night before, watch a movie, get a pedi, work out. Do something that makes you feel good. Don't go out to crazy the night before!
4.Wake up early enough the morning of that you're awake by the time you reach the testing center. Seriously, it might be five minutes away but you want to be fully awake and present.
5. Eat a good breakfast. Obviously! Make it something you love. Don't get a vent starbucks latte or you will be bouncing off the walls.
6. Remember, it's only a test and it does not determine your success in life!

Stack Attack: Part 2

The Classics.
A classic bracelet, like this David Yurman (essential for both of us!) is timeless and can be worn for years.
The signet bracelet is a timeless addition, and they come in so many styles.
Pearls are great and sophisticated.
Some other little bracelet is always a good thing to throw in!

Ideal for: Any occasion. Daily, dressed up, whenever you please. Wear this when you're more conservatively dressed or running in jeans and cardigans. The beauty of the classic stack.

Stack Attack: Part 1

We admit, we're slightly obsessed with stacking up our wrists. It's so much fun. This is our "cool" color stack. All of these net out at or under $32!

Throw on a fun Alex and Ani bangle or two in colors, initials, horoscope sign, or any of the other option.
Lilly and Laura bracelets are all the rage, and so darling.
Of course, we love our Kate Spade bangles (we both have a mint condition one!)
This Marc by Marc Jacobs bracelet is bold and a fun way to add more texture!

Watch for more ideas throughout the week!
